Life after gallbladder surgery
Here are some key recommendations to help maintain your health and prevent new stones from forming after gallbladder-preserving surgery:
Diet
- During the first week after surgery, follow a light diet of low-fat foods, vegetable broths, and lean proteins.
- After two weeks, you can gradually return to your normal balanced diet, including fatty foods 2-3 times per week.
- Limit coffee and alcohol. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Lifestyle
- Try to maintain a regular sleep-wake schedule, manage stress, and stay positive.
- Include some physical activities such as walking, swimming, exercise, or yoga to stay healthy.
Medication
- For the first two months after surgery, you will need to take choleretic medications as prescribed by your doctor.
Regular Check-ups
- We recommend a follow-up ultrasound two months after surgery, as well as after six months and one year.
